Creating Unlimited Product SKUs
Navigate to WooCommerce > SKU Generator from the WordPress dashboard. Here, you’ll find a log of all the SKU rules, including options to view, edit, and manage them.
- Review existing SKU rules and make necessary modifications.
- Perform bulk updates or deletions on multiple rules simultaneously.
- Apply filters based on categories, tags, or attributes to narrow down the rule list.
- Use the search bar to locate specific rules quickly.
- Click on the “Add New Rule” button to create a new SKU rule.
Adding a New Rule to Generate SKUs
To create a new rule, click on the Add New Rule option and provide the following details:
- Add Title: Provide a unique title for the rule to easily identify it later.
- Generate SKUs Based On: Choose how SKUs will be generated by selecting one of the following options:
- Replace SKUs: Check this option to replace SKUs for future products.
- Additional SKUs: Check this to add an additional SKU for new products without removing the existing one.
- Products with No SKUs: Check this to generate SKUs only for products that currently have none.
- Choose SKU Format:
- Enter SKU Length: Specify the desired length for the generated SKUs.
- Product SKU Format: Use placeholders like {prod_id}, {prod_slug}, {prod_name}, {cat_name}, {tag_name}, and {attr_name} to define the SKU format.
- Variation SKU Format: Enable this to create SKUs for variable products using placeholders such as {variation_name} and {variation_id}.
- Add SKU as Variation ID: Choose to include variation IDs in the SKU.
- Add SKU as Variation Name: Choose to include variation names in the SKU.
- Enable Product Restrictions:
- Apply on All Products: Enable this to generate SKUs for all products automatically. If you wish to restrict SKU to specific products and categories, then select:
- Select Categories: Choose specific product categories for SKU generation.
- Select Tags: Apply SKU rules to products with specific tags.
- Select Attributes: Restrict SKU generation based on product attributes.
