Replacing Existing SKUs for New Products
Managing consistent SKUs is essential for maintaining accurate inventory and ensuring efficient order tracking. Over time, store owners may need to update their SKU system to align with new business standards or streamline their catalog.
The SKU Generator for WooCommerce plugin allows you to replace existing SKUs automatically for all new products. Follow the step-by-step guide below to implement this feature.
Step 1: Access the SKU Generator
- In the WordPress Admin Dashboard, go to WooCommerce > SKU Generator.
- Click on the Add New Rule button to start creating a new SKU rule.
Step 2: Configure SKU Generation Settings
- Add Title: Provide a unique title for the rule (e.g., “Replace Existing SKUs for New Products”).
- Locate “SKU Settings”: Under Generate SKUs Based On, you will find three options:
- Replace SKUs: Replace existing SKUs for all future products.
- Additional SKUs: Add extra SKUs while keeping the original ones.
- Products with No SKUs: Generate SKUs only for products currently missing one.
Step 3: Select “Replace SKUs”
- Check the Replace SKUs option to ensure that all new products will automatically receive new SKUs.
