Creating SEO-Friendly URLs
Adding a New Page with SEO-Friendly URL
Get a complete list of all existing pages with SEO & URLs in a log. Take action to view, edit, or delete any page.
From the SEO & URLs tab, click on the “Add New Page” to create a new page and configure its settings.
Meta Tags:
- Page Name: Select a suitable page name from the dropdown
- Page Title: Enter a custom title for the page
- Meta Description: Enter a short description for your shop
- Meta Keywords: Add a list of keywords for search engines
- Rewritten URL: Rewrite a URL
Adding New Search Engines
Go to the Search Engines tab and view a complete list of all created search engines in a log.
To create a new search engine, click on “Add New Search Engine” and configure the settings.
Referrer:
Server: Specify referrer server
$_GET variable: Specify $_GET variable
Adding a New Referrer
- Specify Duration: Specify the duration to get the desired referrers based on yearly, monthly, or daily.
- Indexing: Each connection corresponding to a referrer is indexed. You can refresh this index by clicking the “Refresh index” button. This is necessary if you modify or add a referrer or want changes to be retroactive.
- Cache: Your data is cached for sorting and filtering. Refresh the cache by clicking on the “Refresh cache” button.
- Settings: Configure the following settings:
- Save Direct Traffic?: Choose Yes or No
- Exclude Taxes in Sales Total?: Choose Yes or No
- Exclude Shipping in Sales Total?: Choose Yes or No
Referrers:
Add a New Referrer: Click on “+” to add a new referrer. Provide the following information:
- Affiliate:
- Name: Enter the name
- Password: Enter the password
- Commission Plan: Configure the commission plan, including:
- Click Fee
- Base Fee
- Percent Fee
- Help: Access help to learn definitions for important terms listed in this section
Technical Information – Simple Mode:
- HTTP Referrer: Configure settings for HTTP Referrer, including Include and Exclude options
- Request URI: Configure settings for Request URI, including Include and Exclude options
Identifying Duplicate URLs
In the Duplicate URLs section, you can identify duplicated URLs for:
- Product URLs
- Category URLs
- Conflicts Between Product & Category URLs
Setting Up URLs
Configure URL settings as follows:
- Friendly URL: Enable this option only if your server allows URL rewriting (recommended)
- Accented URL: Enable this option if you want to allow accented characters in your friendly URLs (recommended for non-Latin characters)
- Redirect to the Canonical URL: Choose from the dropdown:
- No Redirection (you may have duplicate content issues)
- 302 Moved Temporarily (recommended while setting up your store)
- 301 Moved Permanently (recommended once you have gone live)
- Disable Apache’s MultiViews option: Enable this option only if you have problems with URL rewriting
- Disable Apache’s mod_security module: Consider turning off this module if it interferes with PrestaShop’s features
Setting Up Shop URL
Configure the URL for your shop, including:
- Shop domain
- SSL domain
- Base URI
Adding Keyword to the URL
Change the default pattern of your links using keywords. To add a keyword to your URL, use the {keyword} syntax. You can also add text before or after the keyword with syntax {prepend:keyword:append}. Specify keywords for the following:
- Route to Products
- Route to Category
- Route to Category with “selected_filter” Attribute for the “Layered Navigation” Module
- Route to Supplier
- Route to Brand
- Route to Page
- Route to Page Category
- Route to Modules
Enabling SEO Options
Enable the option to display attributes in the product meta title if desired.
Generating the Robots File
Generate your “robots.txt” file by clicking on the “Generate robots.txt File” button. Ensure that the robots.txt file is in your website’s root directory.
