Applying Custom Watermarks to Product Images

Configuring General Settings

You will first activate the plugin from the WooCommerce dashboard. Afterward, configure and customize the following general settings of the plugin:

  • Enable Plugin: Enable the Image Watermark for the WooCommerce plugin by check-marking this option
  • Reset Watermark: If you want to restore a backup or reset watermarks, click on the restore backup button. Restore backup will restore all original product images

Click “Save Settings” once the changes are done 

Setting Up A Cron Job 

You can schedule watermark applications on product images through the following options. 

  • Crone Time Type: Select the crone time type. There will be four options available in the dropdown:
    • Seconds 
    • Minutes
    • Hours
    • Day

Note: By default, Crone Time Type is set to “Minutes”.

  • Cron Job Time: Add time to schedule the cron Job (by default, the time is set to 5 minutes)
  • Select Product Range: Add the product range in numbers for the cron job to add a watermark

Click “Save Settings” when you are done

Applying the Watermark

Add rules for applying watermarks. By adding rules, you can control the branding elements of the Watermark.

  • Select Rules For Watermark: As per your needs and requirements, add created watermarking rules(s) (e.g., picture-based watermarks, text-based watermarks, etc.)

Click “Apply Watermark” once the rules are added.

Resetting Watermarks

If you want to reset the watermarks, utilize the following settings: 

  • Select Rules For Reset: Add the rule you want to reset. Resetting the rule(s) restores all the original product images of the selected rule
  • Reset Log: To view the reset log, click on the “Show Log” option

Note: This log will present the status of the current cron only

Viewing the Watermark Log

Here you can see the complete log of Image Watermark for WooCommerce Plugin:

  • Current Rule: All the current rules will be displayed here. In case there are no current rules, you will see the text “No rule”
  • Applied Rule: All the applied rules will be displayed here
  • Left Rule: All the left rules will be displayed here
  • Applied On Product: All the products on which the rules have been applied will be displayed here (Note: This log is only for the status of the current Cron)

Click “Save Settings” when you are done. 

Managing Watermark Rules in a Log

Next, go to Watermark Rules. A list of rules you have created will show up. Here, you can:

  • Perform bulk actions
  • Edit or delete an existing rule
  • Search for an existing rule

Adding a New Watermark Rule

If you want to add a new rule, click the “Add New Rule” button at the top. Choose from the following options to create a distinct watermark for your product images. 

  • Add Title: Enter a unique title for future reference

Watermark Rules: 

  • Create Watermark Type: Select the type of Watermark you want to create
    • Text 
    • Image

For Text-based Watermark Rule:

Upon selecting “Text”, the following additional settings will appear:

  • Watermark Text: Enter a custom text you want to display as a watermark on product images
  • Font Family: Choose the desired font family. There are 11 font families for you to choose from:
    • Arimo
    • Black Ops One
    • Dancing Script
    • DroidSerif Regular
    • Josefin Sans
    • Josefin Sans Regular
    • Lobster 
    • Lobster Regular
    • Orbitron
    • Russo One
    • Shadows Into Light
  • Fonts: Set a customized watermark by choosing from the following settings:
    • Watermark Font Color: Select the watermark font color
    • Watermark Font Opacity: Select the watermark font opacity (min=0, max=127)
  • Font Size: Set the font size of the watermark
  • Select Text Type: Set further text type settings by check-marking one of these options
    • Watermark with only text
    • Watermark with background box
  • Box Width: Choose the width of the box (the width will be in percent compared to the size of the shop)
  • Box Height: Choose the height of the box (the height will be in percent compared to the size of the shop)
  • Rotation of Image: Select an angle between 0 and 360 degrees to rotate your Watermark 
  • Watermark Background Color: Pick the watermark background color that will appear on the box
  • Image Repeat: Enable if you want to replicate the Watermark on the entire image
  • Watermark Opacity: Set Watermark background Opacity (min = 0, max = 127)
  • Watermark Margin: Set the horizontal and vertical margins of the box
  • Shop Size: From the dropdown menu, select the image(s) to which you want to apply the Watermark. Choose from the following places to apply the Watermark.
    • Woocommerce Full
    • Woocommerce Medium Large
    • Woocommerce Medium
    • Woocommerce Thumbnail
    • Woocommerce Catalog
    • Woocommerce Single
    • Woocommerce Shop Thumbnail 

Note: If left empty, the rule won’t be effective

  • Apply By: From here, you can set the watermark application settings. The dropdown gives you two options:
    • Apply by Product
      • Products: Select the products on which you want to apply the watermarks
    • Apply by Category
      • Category: Select the Category to which you want to apply the watermarks
  • Watermark Position: Choose the position of the Watermark

For Image-based Watermark Rule: 

Upon selecting “Image”, the following additional settings will appear:

  • Image: Select to create an image-based watermark
  • Rotation of Image: Select an angle between 0 and 360 degrees to rotate your Watermark
  • Watermark Image Opacity: Add watermark opacity on the image (min = 0, max = 127)
  • Watermark Image: Watermark Image that will show as a watermark on product images
    • Upload Image: Upload an image from your computer or the store’s media library
    • Remove Image: Remove a watermark image
  • Image Repeat: Enable to replicate Watermark on the whole image
  • Watermark Margin: Define the margins of the Watermark
    • Horizontal Margin: Set horizontal margin
    • Vertical Margin: Set vertical margin
  • Shop Size: Select the images to which you want to apply the Watermark. If empty, this rule will not be effective. Choose from the following places to apply the Watermark.
    • Woocommerce Full
    • Woocommerce Medium Large
    • Woocommerce Medium
    • Woocommerce thumbnail
    • Woocommerce catalog
    • Woocommerce single
    • Woocommerce shop thumbnail 
  • Apply By: From here, you can set the watermark application settings. The dropdown gives you two options:
    • Apply by Product
      • Products: Select the products on which you want to apply the watermarks
    • Apply by Category
      • Category: Select the Category to which you want to apply the watermarks
  • Watermark Position: Choose the position of the Watermark 

Click “Publish” to save the changes.
