Creating a New Referral Rule
Configuring Referrer Discount
Go to WooCommerce > Refer a Friend > Referrer Discount. From here, you can configure the following settings for Referrer Discount.
Referrer Discount: Enable this setting if you want to enable a discount for the referrer
Share Type: Select the share type you want the referrer to share
- Referrer Link: Referrer can share a link
- Referrer Code: Referrer can share code
Coupon Prefix: Enter text to customize coupon prefix (If left empty, the prefix will be “wp_”)
Discount Type: Select the discount type to offer a discount to the referrer
- Fixed: If you choose to offer a fixed discount, enter the following:
- Fixed Discount Amount
- Fixed Discount Expiry (days)
- Percentage: If you choose to offer a percentage discount, enter the following:
- Enter Percentage Discount
- Minimum Amount
- Maximum Amount
- Enter Expiry (days)
Note: Leave the expiry field empty to keep the coupon active indefinitely.
Categories: Choose to include or exclude a category if you want to apply a discount to selected products and categories
Choose Categories: Enter a category as you wish
User Roles: Restrict the referral program by user roles.

Note: Leave it empty to exclude the restriction.
Signup Discount: Enable this setting to reward referrer on signup
Shopping Discount: Enable this setting to offer a discount on the first order completion of the referrer.
Automatically add fields on My Account: Enable this setting to automatically add the referrer code and share fields on the My Account page.
Referral Code Field Shortcode: Use the shortcode to display referral program details on any page.
Click “Save Changes” when you are done!
Note: The percentage amount is the value of the first order placed by the Referee, and the discount will be given once the order receives the “Completed” status.
Setting Up a Referee Discount
Go to WooCommerce > Refer a Friend > Referee Discounts. From here, you can configure the Referee Discount settings.
Referee Discount: Enable this setting if you want to enable a discount for the Referee
Coupon Prefix: Enter a coupon prefix (In case of empty, the prefix will be “wp_”)
Discount Type: Select the discount type to offer a discount to the referrer
- Fixed: If you choose to offer a fixed discount, enter the following:
- Fixed Discount Amount
- Fixed Discount Expiry (days)
- Percentage: If you choose to offer a percentage discount, enter the following:
- Percentage Discount
- Minimum Amount
- Maximum Amount
- Enter Expiry (days)
Note: Leave the expiry field empty to keep the coupon active indefinitely.
Categories: Enable this option if you want to apply a discount to selected products and categories.
Choose Categories: Add one or more categories from here
Referral Code field on Signup: Enable this setting to show the referral code field to the registration form.
Field Heading: Add a custom heading for the Referee Code field (If left empty, the default heading will be “Referral Code”)
Field Description: Add a description for Referred Code field (If left empty, the default description will be “Enter Referral Code in this field”)
User Roles: Specify user roles who can avail of the referral code (Leave empty to allow all customers to use referral codes)

Signup Discount: Enable this setting to offer the Referee a discount coupon on signup
Shopping Discount: Enable this setting to allow the Referee to get a discount coupon after completing the first order
Click “Save Changes” when you are done!
Offering Referrals on Social Platforms
Go to WooCommerce > Refer a Friend > Social Shares. From here, you can configure the Social Shares settings.
Enable Social Share: Enable if you want to offer social sharing
Enable Facebook Share: Enable if you want to offer Facebook sharing
Enable Twitter Share: Enable if you want to enable Twitter sharing
Enable WhatsApp Share: Enable if you want to offer WhatsApp sharing
Social Share Description: Add a description that you want to send when a customer clicks on the social sharing button. The referral code will be automatically added at the end of the content
Click “Save Changes” when you are done!
Viewing All Coupons in the Referee Coupons Log
Go to WooCommerce > Refer a Friend > Referee Coupons. You will see a detailed log of referee coupons. You can also add a coupon code to see its details.
The information displayed in this section includes:
Coupon Code: Code of each coupon
Type: Type of coupon fixed/percentage
Amount: Amount of discount given on the coupon
Referred to: Email of the person the coupon is referred to
Referred by: Email of the person the coupon is referred by
Rule: The rule based on which the discount was given
Use: Used or not
Expiry: Expiry date of the coupon
Tracking Coupons through Referrer Coupons Log
Go to WooCommerce > Refer a Friend > Referrer Coupons. You will see a detailed log of referrer coupons. You can also search for a coupon code to see its details.

Customizing Referral Details
Go to WooCommerce > Refer a Friend > General Settings. From here, you can configure the General Settings of the plugin.
Customize headings and descriptions: Enable this option to customize section headings, text, and other labels
Referral Section Heading: Enter a custom heading (If empty, no heading will be shown to the referrer)
Referral Section Description: Add a description (If empty, no description will be displayed to the referrer)
Referral Code Field Heading: Enter a custom heading (If left empty, the heading will not appear)
Referral Code Field Description: Enter a custom description (If left empty, the description will not appear)
Click “Save Changes” when you are done!
Customizing Referral Email Templates
Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails.
Using the WooCommerce Refer a Friend plugin, you can customize a referral email using different templates.
Email Sender Options:
“From” name: Specify how the sender name will appear in the outgoing emails
“From” address: Specify how the sender email will appear in the outgoing emails
Email Template:
Header image: Enter the Url to an image you want to show in the email header (You can upload images using the media uploader)
Footer text: Enter the text that will appear in the footer of all referral emails
Base color: Select the base color for all email templates
Background color: Select the background color for all email templates
Body text color: Select the body text color for all email templates
Store Management Insights:
Enable email insights: Checkmark to receive email notifications with additional guidance to complete the basic store setup and helpful insights
Click “Save Changes” when you are done!
