Setting Frequency & Priority for Pages
To set the frequency and priority for pages in your sitemap using the Addify Site Map Generator plugin, follow these steps:
Log in to your WordPress Admin panel.
Locate the Addify Site Map Generator section.
Click on “Add New Site Map.”
Include Pages: First, ensure that you’ve selected “Yes” to include pages in the sitemap under the “Pages” section.
Set Global Priority:
In the “Priority (Global)” setting, you can specify a priority for all pages in your sitemap. The priority can be set within a range of 0.0 to 1.0.
This global priority will be applied to all pages unless you choose to override it on a per-page basis in the next step.
Set Page Update Frequency:
You can choose the update frequency for page inclusion from the following options:
- Always: Select this option if the content on your pages frequently changes and should be crawled and indexed often.
- Hourly: Use this if your pages are updated multiple times throughout the day and require frequent indexing.
- Daily: Suitable for pages with daily updates or content changes.
- Weekly: Ideal for pages that undergo weekly changes.
- Monthly: Choose this option if your pages experience significant changes on a monthly basis.
- Yearly: Appropriate for static pages with annual updates.
- Never: Select this if you want to exclude pages from regular indexing. Note that search engines may still index them but less frequently.
By configuring these settings, you can define the global priority and update frequency for all pages in your sitemap. Additionally, if you need specific pages to have different priorities, you can override the global priority on a per-page basis in the “Select Pages” section. This level of customization allows you to tailor your sitemap to your SEO strategy and the nature of your website’s content updates.
