Adding extra fields to the checkout and registration pages enhances the customer experience by gathering important details that can streamline order processing or personalize interactions. Whether you need to collect specific information like company names, additional contact numbers, or any other custom data, the PrestaShop Customer Fields for Registration & Checkout module offers an efficient solution. 

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to add extra fields to both the registration and checkout forms.

First, ensure that you have installed and activated the PrestaShop Customer Fields for Registration & Checkout module from the back office of your PrestaShop store.

Once activated, the module will be available for you to configure additional fields.

Configure General Settings

Navigate to General Settings:

After activation, go to the module’s settings. Navigate to the General Settings tab, where you’ll define the visibility of extra fields.

  • Show Extra Fields on Forms: Enable or disable the extra fields for both registration and checkout forms.
  • Label Customization: Define a clear label for these extra fields. For example, if you’re adding a company name field, label it accordingly for both the registration and checkout pages.

Adding Extra Fields to the Registration Form

Navigate to the Registration Form Tab:

Head over to the Registration Form tab. This is where you’ll create new fields for users to fill out during registration.

Create a New Field: Click on the “+” button to start adding a new field. This will open a form where you can define key details of the new field.

Define Field Properties:

  • Enable Field: Toggle the button to activate the field.
  • Input Field Name: Enter a unique name, like “company_name” or “extra_contact”.
  • Input Type: Choose from a variety of input types such as text, textarea, select, checkbox, email, file upload, etc.
  • Placeholder: Add placeholder text that will guide users when filling out the field.
  • Description: Write a short description or help text to clarify the purpose of the field.
  • Field Required: Select whether the field is required or optional for users to complete.

Adding Extra Fields to the Checkout Form

Navigate to the ” Checkout Page” tab and follow the similar steps for adding extra fields on the checkout form.

After configuring each field, make sure to click “Save” to apply the changes. The new fields will now appear on the registration or checkout pages as per your setup.
